Venice

A few years ago we drove from England to Corfu in Greece to visit family. Part of the journey involved visiting Venice as this is where we caught the boat to Greece. I have to say it far exceeded our expectations. We visited all the usual tourist areas which were beautiful if a little crowded but the part we enjoyed the most was getting lost in all the little alleyways. It was especially fascinating to see all the private doorways with faded painted numbers as well as new intercom. It was fascinating to imagine what lay behind all these walls and doors. There was a kind of faded elegance to everything and i vividly remember walking out of the train station to be confronted by what appeared to be the most lavish film set.
